About our company

God has certainly blessed our Baltimore based family business. Although the scope of the work has changed for nearly 154 years, the quality has not. We've seen many plumbing businesses come and go. We remain the oldest, family based plumbing company in Maryland.

John Henry Mullenberg was born in Germany in 1811 and founded the Mulenberg Company in 1867 at 112 N. Paca Street.  In 1876, John Henry's son Charles H. Mullenberg took over the business and moved it to 1301 Druid Hill Avenue.

Around 1910, Charles H. Mullenberg Jr. moved the business to 511 W. Lafayette Avenue and it remained there until 1989. When Charles H. Mullenberg Jr. suddendly died in 1931, one of his son-in-law's, Howard W. Walton (a mechanic currently working at the company at the time), bought out the interest of the business from other family members and earned his Master Plumbing license.

Upon Howard W. Walton's retirement in 1968, his son Howard C. Walton (another mechanic that was currently working at the company) earned his Master Plumber's license and took over the business until he retired in 1992. Howard's son Richard Walton (another mechanic that's currently working at the company) earned his Master Plumber's license, took over the business and is the company's current president.
